Will The Old Legends Of Hindi Movie Industry Be Replaced By The Newer Generation?
We often use the phrase ‘old is gold’! Let’s say the same is applicable to Indian Cinema as well, and specifically to the Hindi movie industry. People who made their mark a few decades ago in the industry are still remembered and called as legends of the industry. No matter at what rate the present day industry is growing, we still remember these men and women and they leave us in awe every time we watch them on screen.
Legends who made themselves immortal through their work
People like Dilip Kumar formerly named as Muhammad Yusuf Khan, Amitabh Bachhan, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Dharmendra among men, and Rekha, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi, Madhubala, Hema Malini and others among women, are the idol for most of the stars in the Hindi movie stars of present day.
They are looked up to as inspiration for the stars of today. It seems like without them the industry would be devoid of inspiration and good work.
Today’s artists – the newer generation
Today’s stars such as Shahrukh, Salman, Amir, Hrithik, Ranveer, Ranbir, Abhishek, Rani, Kajol, Aishwarya, Kareena, Katrina, and many more are blooming in the Hindi movie industry. They are doing their share of hard work and are receiving their share of stardom and fame, but like we say ‘Old is Gold’, no one replaces the other.
Those old legends are still the bright glimmering stars in the bright sky of Indian cinema. They have set their bench marks for the newer generation to cross. But the day is yet to come; or rather we are unsure if at all the newer generation can replace these legends ever. This is because, as the days pass, we viewers, keep on increasing our expectations from these ‘stars’ of today and why not?
The scenario now and then
Come to think of it, the scenario then was much harder than it is now. Why so? The only thing that was available then was good actors. They had to be their best. Hiding flaws, having retakes, cropping, cut pasting, look test, etc. was not as well established as it is now. Technology was not so developed. They had less scope of making mistakes then. Life was tougher. So those who stood up against all odds and made to the heights of fame in those days did a great deal of hard work and have been setting their examples for the newer generation.
If the newer generation is able to make up to their level and replace them, we are sure that the legends would be smiling at themselves thinking about the hard work they had put in to be like the war hero for these newer generation. It is the rule of nature that the old steps down at a point of time and makes way for the new. The same is applicable for the cinema industry; the old and the new can have their fair share of fame.
